My Swimming Hole
Since last rainy season the Uvita River, or Rio Uvita, has moved back to it's original location after a
wrong-headed decision a few years ago to push it about 150 meters Southward where, supposedly, it
would encroach less on properties this direction.  It seemed only a matter of time to show the idiocy of this
plan, and indeed, nature proved me correct.  Once again I have a swimming hole, and so do others in the
neighborhood.

I finally used my mask and snorkel to reconnoiter it's somewhat finite depths, while taking the opportunity to
give Muttinhead a swimming lesson.  She has always been a water lover, but usually just likes to soak and
cool off.  I got her out into the deeper water and she picked up her first stroke, The Doggie Paddle, very
quickly.  Manana, we will work on The Back Stroke, and maybe next week I'll get her going on The Butterfly.

I took my camera and tri-pod, fully intending to document the procedures myself, but as we approached
there was a car and a small group who were heading for a swim themselves.  They seemed friendly, and
the leader of the pack agreed to take some pics of me if I'd leave them alone there after that, to which I
readily agreed.
A pic Noah took of me displaying my aquatic dexterity before
they moved the river and destroyed the old swimming hole.
2005...or 6..it's sorta fuzzy now.

I won't lie to you..it was a grizzly scene.  I bit him on the
ankle..brought him down..the dogs did the rest.  Let your
imaginations run wild.  Around

This is all that remains of that
swimming hole.
So..now I have to hike a bit farther
up-river to this one, and it's worth
the walk, I must admit.  Still, it's only
about a 15 minute walk from my
house, and I need the exercise.
