My Road
Uvita de Osa, Costa Rica
(under construction)
New shopping centers mark the turn-
off to My Road, where in the recent
past you would have had to ask a cow,
or possibly a horse, for directions.
My neighbor, Uli, hits The Costenero, or Coast
Highway, where My Road runs into it.
This is the last of the original
structures at this intersection.
That truck there is heading down MY
Road..and I forgot to collect the toll.
New restaurant and bar (not finished).
Jorge, who sold me my new property,
rides to town.
Joannie's realty shop. Hi! Joannie.
Trey's Tucan Hotel entrance. (will add pic of the place itself soon)
Cuca built this first as a pool hall, sold it, and now
there's good eatin' in front, liquor on the side and
poker in the rear. harhar..sorry, old joke
He still organizes his horse-back tours here.
Julio's furniture shop and
wood emporium. Julio has
done all the wood-work in my
cabin and new house, and
gotten drunk with me a
number of times.
below: The road to left goes to the elementary school.
below: Here My Road goes to the right of the recently
abandoned horse stables, and on past the cemetary towards
My House and the mountains beyond and to the left.
Lots of construction going on up the hill. Can
you say, "Ocean Views"? I knew you could.
Whats-her-name's bed and breakfast. Nice lady, I just
forgot her name. Air-conditioned and comfy inside
with a cool pool to hang out at in the back yard.
April 24th, 2008. I took these pics last
Tuesday as a start on documenting My
Road, and town, as it looks now.
Things are changing fast in these
parts..
Part of Cabinas Los Laureles, a small motel
where my new friend John recently stayed while
buying a vacation home down by the beach in
Bahia, the sister town to Uvita.. Uvita is to the
East of the coast highway and in the hills, Bahia
is to the West and near the beach.
New home that now seems
abandoned to a Free-Range Uvita
Horse. The whole thing used to be
Javier's welding shop and living
area for his family. It was very
different looking then. Now Javier
and family have a nice new place
up the hill a ways. I have no idea
what happened to the people that
built the house here.
