Cascada Verde is for sale again..

Jungle Journal 07-05-2006
A day of hope, a day of promise, a day of disappointment
and joy.
Just another day in the jungle.
The day started with the search for an air conditioning unit
for my cabin. The heat and humidity has been oppressive
and I need some relief. My cabin is very open air and I have
no plans to enclose it, but I know a little A.C. unit blowing in
cool air will be just the ticket.
The local appliance store would have ordered one from San
Isidro which would arrive in two weeks, but my friend Bernie
was there on his way to San Isidro and offered to pick it up
and take it back with him on the bus. This offer appealed to
my want an air conditioner now instinct, so I went with it. I
trust Bernie, and felt grateful he would go to such effort on
my behalf. He was about to do something I was just too lazy
to do myself; hitch-hike over the mountain and transport an
air-conditioning unit back by bus to my house. I gave him the
$30 I saved on the change in the order and that would have
paid for a cab ride back, but I don’t think he used it for that.
I took a few photos of Patrick’s place up the hill, Cascada
Verde. He says he will teach me some Spanish in return (he
ended up giving me $500 for just using one of my pics in a
flyer this French jerk did). He is trying to sell most of his
place which has been a travelers rest for years. It is a fairly
large concern composed of three buildings in the jungle with
some ocean view and some horticultural things going on.
Many young travelers from around the world have resided
there for varying periods of time if they were willing to work a
few hours a day and pay a nominal fee for the privilege. He
has many interesting herbs and tasty tidbits, all legal that I
know of, so far.
The garage and main bar/social area approaches enormous,
but doesn’t quite reach it. There’s a neat little room to sleep
in any which way you turn. The jungle encroaches, and
beyond, the sea beckons. His new home sits bare and
uncovered, awaiting some clothes only the sale of the old
place with provide.
The A.C unit arrived, in tact, at my door! Nice job BERNIE!
It’s the 220 volt model.. I needed the 110, as I ordered from
the local dealers…and they assured me was a 110 model etc
etc etc…..now what? Back to the drawing board..

I guess it's not as bad as it looks in there.
Patrick came up with a few handfuls of
clams, and says the water is drinkable too.

Patrick is off to Thailand,
Vietnam, and other points
East for six months or so.
Love ya, buddy, hope you are having fun.
He sent me an
